Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 5, 2026 · Version 1.0LocalLink is a local marketplace and community platform built on trust between real people. These Community Guidelines explain the behaviour we expect from everyone — whether you’re listing a service, buying a product, posting a job, or exploring your local area.
These Guidelines form part of our Terms of Service. Violations may result in content removal, account restriction, or permanent ban.
1. Be honest — post accurate listings, genuine reviews, and truthful information.
2. Be respectful — treat every person on LocalLink as you would in real life.
3. Be safe — protect yourself and others, in the app and at in-person meetings.
4. Be responsible — you are accountable for what you post, say, and do.
1. Honesty and listings
You must:
- Post listings that accurately describe what you’re offering or requesting.
- Keep prices, availability, and descriptions up to date.
- Have the legal right to sell, give away, or offer the item or service you list.
- Use real photos that represent the actual item or service.
- Disclose material defects in products honestly.
You must not:
- Create fake listings to attract contacts or harvest personal information.
- Misrepresent the quality, condition, quantity, origin, or legal status of goods or services.
- Post duplicate or spam listings to game search results.
- Use misleading pricing (e.g. bait-and-switch tactics).
2. Respect and communication
You must not:
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users — in chat, comments, reviews, or any other part of the app.
- Use hate speech, slurs, or language that attacks someone based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Engage in coordinated harassment campaigns against any user.
- Send unsolicited spam messages or mass-contact users who haven’t expressed interest.
- Impersonate another person, business, LocalLink, or any official entity.
- Contact someone who has blocked you or asked you to stop.
3. Fraud, scams, and deception
- Do not deceive users about the nature, condition, price, or terms of a deal.
- Do not request advance payments from unknown users for goods or services you don’t intend to deliver.
- Do not use fake identities, multiple accounts, or bots to manipulate the platform.
- Do not create fake deals, fake reviews, or fake engagement to improve ratings.
- Do not offer fake lottery winnings, upfront-fee jobs, or get-rich-quick schemes.
- Do not sell or offer access to stolen accounts, hacked profiles, or leaked data.
- Do not use LocalLink to launder money or disguise proceeds of illegal activity.
4. Personal safety and live location
- Meet buyers, sellers, or job partners in safe, public locations where possible.
- Inspect items before completing payment.
- Do not use live location tracking to stalk, monitor, or harass other users.
- Do not share another user’s location without their explicit consent.
- Enable live tracking only when genuinely needed for the specific listing.
5. Privacy and personal data
- Do not post another person’s phone number, address, photos, financial information, or personal data without their explicit consent.
- Do not doxx anyone — expose private information to cause harm or embarrassment.
- Do not record, screenshot, or distribute private chat conversations without consent.
- Do not harvest or scrape user data from LocalLink for marketing or research.
6. Reviews and ratings
- Only leave reviews based on a real, direct interaction.
- Do not leave fake, fabricated, or AI-generated reviews.
- Do not buy, sell, request, or coordinate fake review manipulation.
- Do not write abusive, threatening, or retaliatory content in reviews.
- Do not pressure or incentivise other users to write positive reviews.
7. Prohibited and unsafe content
Do not post, share, or promote:
- Illegal goods or services — drugs, weapons, stolen property, fake documents, trafficking (see Terms Section 5.3).
- Dangerous or recalled products — items known to be unsafe or banned.
- Sexual exploitation — any content sexualising minors; non-consensual intimate imagery; adult services advertising.
- Violent threats or incitement — threats of violence against individuals or groups.
- Misinformation that causes harm — fake emergency listings, false safety alerts, fraudulent job offers.
- Malware or phishing — links, files, or messages designed to steal data or compromise devices.
8. Professional and regulated services
- Hold all required licences, permits, certifications, and insurance before offering regulated services.
- Accurately represent your qualifications and experience.
- Do not offer services requiring a licence you do not hold.
- Do not post job listings involving unsafe, illegal, or exploitative working conditions.
9. Fair use of the platform
- Do not use bots or automated tools to post listings, send messages, or interact with the platform.
- Do not create multiple accounts to circumvent a ban or gain unfair advantages.
- Do not manipulate search rankings through artificial activity.
- Do not interfere with the technical operation of LocalLink.
10. Agent-specific rules
- Never collect user passwords, OTP codes, or payment information.
- Always obtain the business owner’s informed consent before registering a listing.
- Do not register fake businesses, fake listings, or inflate activity metrics.
- Report any attempted fraud or misuse of the agent system to LocalLink.
Enforcement
When we receive a report or detect a potential violation, we may warn, remove content, limit features, temporarily or permanently suspend the account, restrict device/IP access, or report to law enforcement where required by law.
Actions involving threats of violence, child exploitation, or ongoing fraud may result in immediate permanent suspension without prior warning.
Appeals
If you believe we made a mistake, appeal through in-app support or email support@locallinkapp.co with “Appeal” in the subject line.
Reporting
Use the Report button on any listing, profile, or message, or email support@locallinkapp.co.
